I have been using Swift Networks for the past four years and even though there are a few times I have to call customer care and threaten them, I love the service because hey when the internet is good, it is super fast.
Fast forward to recently, I was logging into the portal to check my usage and I saw an About Us Category which I have never noticed before. Curiously I opened it and I decided to check their board of directors. Not that I will know who they are but as a customer, it is my right to know the people governing a service I use.
I started reading their profiles just to discover that there is no woman on their board of directors. No, not one single woman.
What is up with that?
10 and no single woman. All Mr this Mr that.
Mr. Richard Kramer is the Chairman of Swift Networks Limited.
Mr. Charles Anudu is the Managing Director / CEO.
Mr. Chukwuma E. Okoye is the Chief Operating Officer.
There is also Chief (Dr.) Richard U. Uche, Mr. Daniel O. Agbor, Engr. Alfred Mkparu, Mr. Paul Kokoricha, Engr. Folorunsho Akinwande, Mr. Edwin Mmuoemenam and Mr. Afam Edozie.
Ten board members and no woman.
In Deloitte’s analysis of nearly 6,000 companies in 49 countries, women held 12% of board seats. Only 4% of board chair positions were held by women.
Yes, only 4%
Catalyst says research from many scholars and organizations have found that three women or more are needed to create a “critical mass” of women, which can lead to better financial performance.
Women are great additions to teams world over. Appointing a woman as a board member doesn’t devalue or decrease the company in any way. Rather it adds fresh and unique perspectives to the narrative.
So Swift Networks, add a woman to your board.
