Lagos First Lady Makes Commitment to Fight Against Rape

The first lady of Lagos state, Dr. Joke Sanwo-Olu has made a commitment to fight against rape in the state.

She made this statement when she received officials of Lagos State Ministry of Justice at Lagos House, Alausa, Ikeja.

She said ” Together, we shall fight all forms of abuses against women and children in Lagos State. “

UNICEF reported in 2015 that one in four girls and one in ten boys in Nigeria had experienced sexual violence before the age of 18.

A survey by Positive Action for Treatment Access, over 31.4 percent of girls there said that their first sexual encounter had been rape or forced sex of some kind.
